Vase Life trials
Although all flowers were sold through the Aalsmeer Flower Market, samples of each participant were taken out for a vase-life trial. It was already proven that flowers could last a long journey on Flower Transport GelŽ and arrive in good condition, a vase-life trial still had to be done in order to see if the flowers would still last long enough for final consumers to really enjoy the beauty of fresh-flowers.Of each type of flowers a sample was taken in order to get a good and objective idea about the vase-life after a journey by ship. All the flowers were placed at our vase-life trial centre where the conditions are similar to an average western European house: being 21 degrees Celsius and 85% humidity.
At the same time, a part of the flowers was placed in pre-treated water with Flower CareŽ (Fresh Flower Food) in order to see if the results could be even better when placing the flowers in Flower CareŽ instead of in normal water.
